Preveli Palm Beach, village of Spili and Cretan picnic in an olive groove
“Cretan paradise” – this is what the southwestern coast of Crete is called, and it’s all thanks to the extraordinary, tropical beach of Preveli, also very often called Palm Beach. The beach impresses with truly ‘Amazonian’ scenery, but it is difficult to access and it is hidden in the impressive Kurtuliotiko gorge among the high mountains.
This place’s uniqueness is evidenced by the Megalopotamos River, which flows into the Libyan Sea.
However, before we get to the beach, for a good start of the day, we will take you to the picturesque Cretan village called Spili, where in a nearby kafenion you will find out how Greek coffee – eliniko tastes. It’s brewed according to a proven Cretan recipe. While drinking coffee, you can admire the springs with refreshing water flowing from the lions’ heads carved into the rock.
After a blissful morning, we will take the direction to the southwestern part of Crete. There, after an hour’s route, we will change to a ship and sail on a beautiful cruise, admiring the hardly accessible coast of southern Crete and the waters of the Libyan Sea.
